(I am not actually put out; I am Getting Things Done & mainlining Castle in between, and it is in fact impossible to be disgruntled whilst mainlining Castle.)
Dear Thor fandom,
Loki is not delicate and weepy. Seriously, please stop that. I know he spends most of the film with tears in his eyes and I know that he has a slight build compared to Thor, but this is no excuse. Loki is a calculating manipulative bastard who feels everything and doesn't function well in a culture where "JUST HIT THINGS" is the solution, and that is much, much more interesting than one-note woobiness. Make a note of this, and go rewatch the movie or read some comics or some myths or -- fuck it, DWJ's Eight Days of Luke, I don't care. Just fix this.
Carry on with the Thor/Loki, though, that's pretty awesome.
Sincerely,
Aria
PS -- it's "Warriors Three" not "Warrior's Three," DESTROY YOUR APOSTROPHIES. They are not three people who belong to a warrior, they are three awesome warriors + Sif, who is too cool for this shit anyway. Thank you.

Now I'm wondering what would have happened if movie!Loki had been sent to an Earth as a mortal. Would have been "Oh hey, these humans are occasionally good at expressing FEEEEEELINGS. And that's.....novel and kinda awesome. Huh." I am not sure how to convey that without more woobie-fication. Or would it have just a gigantic trains wreck? IDK.

And ... hmm. On the one hand, even stripped of his powers I think Loki would be able to function fairly well; if he wasn't able to vanish or illusion himself out of situations, he'd probably get extra good at being clever and manipulative, and he would get right on acting out Earth customs and understanding Earth science. On the other hand, if Odin actually banished him, it might break Loki a little -- so it might already be too late for him to enjoy or reciprocate functional human emotion.
Aaaand I want to write this now. FUUUUCK.

Whoops.
A decently clever human looking at him longingly wouldn't magically fix broken!banished!Loki, that's for sure.

I wonder if anything would fix broken!banished!Loki? Probably Thor coming down and helping him get back, but if Thor isn't banished I'm not sure how much of a jerk Thor stays. FF IT IS A LOKI FIC I DON'T WANT IT TO STILL BE ABOUT THOR'S STUPID EMOTIONAL ARC.

....this sounds familiar.

No, I don't believe you. Loki is a fragile flower. *nods* He absolutely didn't fight at least as well as the Warriors Three + Sif in the Jotunheim fight scene, nor did he fuck Heimdall's shit up, nor did he give his brother a run for his money in the final fight. Nope. He just sat around and cried, and also maybe wrote in his diary about how powerless he was to change anything. It's sad being Loki.

And yeeeeah, any story about Loki is also about Thor. I am glad that any story about Thor is also about Loki, though, or it would be horribly unfair.

Because I don't think I have the stomach for weeding through stories about Loki crying into his chai tea. I used to sort of half-heartedly worship Loki (the god, not the comic book character) in my early teens and I don't think I could take it.

Dear Diary,
Today no one hugged me. It was hard to see everyone touching each other like the warriors they are. Maybe it's because I'm so skinny and puny they fear they'd break me if they slapped me on the back in a manly way? It's such a shame there's nothing I can do to change this, or indeed anything.
I think Father prefers Thor to me. I wish something bad would happen at Thor's coronation. Maybe something bad that would prompt him to do something stupid and for Father to judge him. Oh well, knowing my luck it'll just be another day of everyone getting hugs but me.
In other news, I discovered a way between the worlds that isn't guarded by Heimdall. Maybe I'll write a poem about it?
My life is empty
Devoid of cuddles.
The tears in my eyes
Form big puddles.
I have no agency
And no armor
And when I cry
I don't feel calmer.
...I. I think I'm going to go to bed now. Alone.

kinkmeme fill: Lex/Loki: what it says on the tin! I was kind of excited about this one because it understands them both a lot.
The Incestuous Elephant in the Room: Thor/Loki; the other Avengers are seriously uncomfortable with their relationship, Thor doesn't get what the problem is, and Loki cheerfully fucks with everyone. This one is screamingly funny.
The Later Edda: Lokisaga, or the Thor film retold as an Old Norse prose translation about Loki. This one is so, so great.

(I should add, however, that this supposed "mortal" has a knack for showing up post-mortem without being a ghost or an illusion. And that has never been explained. Neither has the fact that no one in the magical world seems to know anything about the man, even though every other detail of Harry's life has been scrutinized to a fare-thee-well by his numerous enemies.)

I have not seen this movie. This makes me want to. XD

(But what pairing shall I go for? Maybe there's a bit where Sif and Thor compete for Loki's affections and Loki thinks they're mocking him because he just doesn't understand what it means to be loved????)

Obviously it would be Sif and Thor competing for Loki's affections! And at the end the Warriors Three also realize how TERRIBLE they've been to Loki and they ALL want him now because they see how amazing he really is!
Oh, and Odin cries.

Oh, and Odin cries.
YOU ARE A GENIUS! Odin was only ever mean to Loki because he knew in his heart that Loki would grow to be more loved than Odin could ever be, and he was JEALOUS and also HAD A DRINKING PROBLEM And STIFLED LOKI'S CREATIVITY. (He used to burn Loki's poems in front of him. And then tell him he had to compete with Thor because only one of them could be King. ...wait, that last bit's canon.)

I have to go be a grown up for a little bit, but rest assured that I shall be dividing my thoughts equally between grown up stuff and emo!Loki's poetry.

You don't know me but and I found this entry by accident but thank you! Thank you for saying this! I hate it when they do this to Tony and I despise it when they do it to Loki. And I know when it comes to the kink meme you can't really complain about this since it's someone's fetish but man I just needed to hear this from another Loki fan.
That said yeah, Loki never came off to me as poor fragile woobie in the movie. He came off as tragic but he was by no means weak, since he held himself down in a fight pretty well and got more hits on Thor than Thor did on him. And Comic!Loki is even less of a fragile woobie since he's really good at hand-to-hand combat and has made a living hell out of Thor's life (and for that you need to survive Thor's rage, which is something Loki's good at since he will always get his forgiveness too).

I agree with you completely about Loki's not being delicate and weepy. He's a great character and I love him and Thor as a buy-one-get-one-free set. On the other hand, he has done some awful things and needs to deal with himself and his family issues.
So, I just wanted to drop a link to my own version of the anti!woobie!Loki trend (or the Misunderstood!Draco category Loki fits so neatly). *g*

I'll just be toodling along checking out the rest of your Thor-tagged posts now. *waves*
Also, I've just realized you're the author of "Shatter" on AO3, and that is one of the earliest and best Loki POV stories I've read in the fandom.
