To my complete bewilderment, instead of writing my Yuletide (which I am so far unstressed about; I have my whole outline and I'm nearly done with the obligatory canon review) I am instead writing Marauders poly fic. Peter is not invited to these poly shenanigans, but maybe he should be, because let me tell you guys, Remus is so obstinate and self-effacing at inconvenient times that we've now passed 10,000 words and there has been one kiss. One. Remus Lupin, we have passed the minimum requirement for undemanding big bangs! This is absurd!

I swear, you guys, I am no longer even remotely upset with Tonks for calling Remus out in the hospital wing in front of everyone. I am nearly at the same point myself.

The question of whether Peter should be involved with Marauder shenanigans is always a hard one for me! I was never particularly into Marauders-era fic, and I think this is one of the reasons why: he was one of their close friends, so clearly they liked him; but it is hard to reconcile that with the kind of person he is when we see him in the books. So no matter what one does with him in a fic, it feels weird to me.

Hah, yes! And usually when I write him, he's absolutely present, and whoever's narrating (usually this means Remus or Sirius) assumes that he's obviously part of the group, and that he's an awesome cheerleader/knows the right thing to say/is generally a great friend. But there's always an edge of uneasiness for me, because -- well. He's going to do the worst possible thing, and no one knows yet, not even him. So yeah.

So -- he's involved in the shenanigans but certainly not the sexy shenanigans. Sometimes in my head he's kind of into James, but he'd never do anything about it, so the point is moot.
